I was lucky enough to see Danny McShain in-person from the second row of ringside seats at Madison Square Garden circa 1960.

He's one of those wrestlers who either worked (Jules Strongbow-style -- slow-and-boring) Los Angeles-style on filmed matches but was a tiger in shorter major-arena shows elsewhere -- or the Garden brought out the best in him.

The guy had the ferocious aura of a champion and worked all-out when I saw him at the Garden but comes across, on film, as half-asleep or tired and worn-out. He wasn't even in the main event at the Garden but, given his performance, certainly could have justified top-of-the-card status there.

Who knows? I don't.

I will definitely have my ballot to you this weekend Mr. Yohe. Since I came in late to the selections I've been checking everything I can out to be sure before I submit. I have all the selections I want, just not sure what order to put them in or rather not definitively yet.

Got two this AM & it surprised me because there has been very little action in the last few weeks. I have a number in my mind, I figured if it wasn't met I'd discontinue this. I'm way short. I have other wrestling projects to work on, so I'll be good with the decision. Who voted were the historians & my friends. Who haven't shown up are the Los Angeles people. The voting period is over and I'm going to be posting the results. The number of voters I was looking for to not shut this down was 20, and it ended up at 21. 5 or 6 people kicked in the last two days & that helped. So thanks to them & all the voters, and anyone who care about this project. BUT....a lot of the people I respect...and used to vote...didn't. Some who did...seemed bothered by it.

So the is going to be the last ballot. It ends here.

I still think this system would work, if I had voters....but I don't.

I would keep going...if people bugged me to continue...but I'll need to feel like it's of value to someone....and I could be guarantied 30 voters...but that isn't going to happen.

I can't believe Pedro Morales, 2-time WWA World Champion and 5 or 6 times WWA Tag-Team Champion, didn't make the HOF. And I can't even say "Wait'll next year!"

The problem IMO is that LA is a little seen territory, in terms of both real time syndication and surviving footage, past the early TV era.

Pedro wasn't my number one but I definitely had him in my top five I think. Kinda shocked Chavo who was I think a six time Americas Champion didn't make it. I had him as my number one.

I've always thought it would be interesting to do HOF like this for other major territories. Someone else would have to volunteer to do them for their own home territory.

But I would like to play around with making candidate list for places like NYC, St Louis, SF, Japan, the Northwest, Boston, Chicago, Minneapolis, etc. I could do a Ok job with those, but I could not do the South like Memphis, Florida, Atlanta, or even Texas. I know we have top guys who could do Australia & New Zealand. Some lucha guys might want to do Mexico.

I might make a post out of that if I had time to burn & then those interested could add idea & make changes.

I could see helping with those lists & voting....but counting & running the show is way too much work & time. I don't think anyone else would want that job either. But putting the list together interests me.--Yohe

If (and I appreciate that it's a big IF) there was enough interest for an Australian HOF I'd volunteer to submit the lists, coordinate the voting, do the counting and undertake the overall running of the show.

I must admit, I'm one of those who possibly doesn't have the knowledge in SC, particularly before the 60s.

So we will have another LA HOF ballot in Feb. 2018. It will be just one a year. So hopefully the voters will be into it. I'll be putting it together in Jan.

I'm into Frank Sexton right now & I think he spent a lot more time in LA than most people think & during that time he was defending the AWA WC or earlier, feuding with Dean Detton. So look for that.--Steve Yohe

The Holding section is where we store the names of the performer that have been voted off the candidate list in past years. The idea is that they can be voted back on the candidate list after one year, if the voters give them the support and votes. Los Angeles Hall of Fame Ballot #6-- Feb 2018

This the sixth LA HOF ballot from the Thesz board at Wrestling Classic. Remember a year ago when I said we were going to put a end to this....well I lied & we are back. Voting starts on Feb. 1 and ends on Wednesday Feb. 21 at 23:59 (LA Time). I'll start counting and then email and post the results at the Thesz site around Feb 22, 2018.

The only new change is we're only going to do only one ballot a year. In February of each year to follow. This changes a few things, but just follow the instructions, and you'll do Ok.

Voting for Individual Wrestliers
Below is a list of numbers from 1 to 10. Pick ten names from the candidate list and list them from 1 to 10. #1 will get 10 points----#10 will get 1 point. At the end of the voting period, I will then add up all the points. The three wrestlers with the most points will be inducted into the sixth class of the Thesz Board Los Angeles Hall of Fame. In a case of ties, both wrestlers will be admitted. The voting period will end 3 weeks after I email this. At this point we have about 21 voters & I’m willing to add more during the voting period. Actually we have 20 voters, because JMK is now passed, and if that's what he's going to do....he can't vote anymore. But it all stops 3 weeks from now. Any vote for a name not on the candidate list will not be counted. The counting is done by my judgment alone.

Then pick 3 names from the non-wrestler candidates. #1 gets 3 points--#2 gets 2 points & #3 gets 1 point. The one person with the most points will enter the HOF in the non-wrestler group.

Pick 5 names from the tag team candidate list. Two teams will enter the HOF each ballot. Voters need to pick 5 names and list them according to their preference or the teams' importance to Los Angeles wrestling. #1 gets 5 points...#2 gets 4 points...#3 gets 3 points..#4 gets 2 points and #5 gets 1 point. The two top point totals make it into the hall.

The candidate list & Bio list (maybe) will be attached. You don’t have to read the bio sheet, unless your looking for ideas. You do need to look over the candidate list each year, because it changes. If you pick a person not on the list of 100, I will just throw it away & I will not tell you & you'll get no chance to change it.

Once your ballot has been emailed to Yohe it can’t be changed. All voting is done by email. Please do not wait until the last few days to vote, because those who do...forget. Last year I lost about 10 voters because of that. If the count isn't about 30, we really may shut this down. Unless your a new voter, you have thought this out before, so vote early.

The ballot has to change each voting period. We have a system where the voters can control the movement on and off the candidate lists. It's a way to correct errors and give the voters control, instead of just one person. Ideas can follow & the group can decide. So please vote in the “put on” and “take off” sections.

Hey has Theo Ehret been considered on the non-wrestler list? May seem an unorthodox choice, but Ehret was the house photographer at the Olympic from the 60's to the 80's and many, if not most, of the pics we have seen from that era, in magazines, on posters, .etc from LA came from his camera.

Nevermind the fact that he also did Apartment House Wrestling, Ehret was a big part of the LA wrestling scene
