Was Mike Ayala a good fighter? How did he compare to Tony Ayala as far as skill in the ring?

What were some of his best fights?

Although he lost, his fight vs. Danny Little Red Lopez is THE fight to watch if you're going to watch a Mike Ayala fight. Great fight.

Like his brothers, it's hard to say how much potential he had. Their father was a complete monster and all the sons either ended up terrible people or escaping reality through drugs and/or booze, which is what held Mike back a lot.

He fought for the featherweight title against Lopez, then made the uncommon move of making a permanent shift DOWN in weight to junior featherweight and got two shots at the title but lost twice.

His biggest wins were over ex-champion Julian Solis and Nicky Perez (who'd only lost to Wilfredo Gomez at that point). But he couldn't ever get past the champions he fought: Lopez, Juan Kid Meza, and Daniel Zaragoza.

That's about it. He wasn't the destroyer Tony was but he was a contender. Very undersized at featherweight and probably should have been fighting at bantam rather even than jr. feather.

So long from the Sunshine State!
