They actually met in JCP/MACW with Bockwinkle as AWA Champion.
Did they actually have big feud though? I would have loved to have seen that myself.
They faced each other 8 times in 1979

04/17 Raleigh, NC Ricky Steamboat beat Nick Bockwinkel by DQ

04/24 Raleigh, NC Ricky Steamboat beat Nick Bockwinkel by DQ

09/02 Columbia, SC Ricky Steamboat defeated Nick Bockwinkel by DQ (for AWA title) - I was there for this match

09/02 Greensboro, NC Ricky Steamboat beat Nick Bockwinkel by DQ (defended TV title)

09/04 Raleigh, NC Ricky Steamboat, Ric Flair & Blackjack Mulligan beat Nick Bockwinkel, Paul Jones & Baron Von Raschke

09/18 Raleigh, NC Ricky Steamboat vs. Nick Bockwinkel

10/19 Hampton, VA Ricky Steamboat beat Nick Bockwinkel by countout

10/20 Winston-Salem, NC Ricky Steamboat vs. Nick Bockwinkel

Thank you very much for sharing this!

Harts vs. Von Erichs sounds good in theory, but doesn't work any place or time.

It would have to be these guys vs. these guys:

 -

 -

The Harts would have no appeal outside of their home territory and the Von Erichs would never go there to heel, sell and job.

The Von Erichs heeled in Amarillo against the Funks.

No one has appeal until a promoter gets them over.

Agreed, Harts also heeled in Hawaii and got over quite well from what I've read, it's all down to how someone is positioned.

David Von Erich had learned to heel in Florida and St Louis, and put them in Alberta against the Harts? Easy.

I think David and Kevin should have gone and heeled as a team in the Carolinas and Georgia. Lots of interesting possibilities.

They weren't going to do that in Calgary. Ever.

Kevin & David did heel in one match in JCP (during the first round of a tourny in Charlotte to crown new World tag champs). They were babyfaces the rest of the night though.

Why not (other than the fact that they'd probably be busted at the border with 12 pounds of cocaine stuffed in their fanny packs)?

Money. Travel. Too big (physically and as stars) for the territory.

Did you find that weird?

I've been thinking a lot lately about a feud between the Guerreros vs. the Harts, with the Guerreros invading Calgary to see who the greater wrestling family is, they could even get Gory and Stu involved somehow.

Slightly but not really. Kerry was supposed to appear with Kevin but David showed up instead. Only time I ever saw him live. He died shortly after.

Depends when you're talking about. They weren't "too big" until 1982'ish when Flair and The Freebirds made them big. In fact, Dallas was on its ass for quite a few years prior to that.

They were always too big in their minds to ride around Alberta in a van. Being the Von Erichs in Dallas was always a better option.

It's easy for something to get too big in your mind when your brain is the size of a pea.
