Good morning. Today I read the top 100 greatest wrestler of all time, organizated the great Steve Yohe. That ranking was focused on star power and drawing power in particular. Now I want to organize a ranking of the top 100 workers of all time, only about in ring performances. Who would like to partecipate? Thanks very much

Pass. The business has changed so much over the years that what was considered state-of-the-art fifty years ago would be "slow" and "boring" to much of today's audience.

Dory Funk is considered an all-time great, personally I find watching paint dry to be more interesting. On the other hand, Johnny Valentine is one of my all-time favorites as is Mark Lewin, and both were at their best when I was too young to appreciate what they were doing.

In these next days I will prepare a list of about 1000 wrestlers among which you can choose, as Steve Yohe's did in his top 100 stars. I want to keep the same way of vote of Yohe: everybody can make a list of the top 100 workers, and every position will receive some points (the first 100, the second 99, the third 98, ......)
What do you think about what I said?

Hollywood Hogan circa 2005-2006 is an emphatic top 10 for me.

The term "work" means different things to different people....and it changes thru time. You'll find it hard to find voters. And to run it in a serious way is very, very, hard. I would think of a different project.

I don't know how Meltzer can do his HOF & Award stuff. He must have help or some special type of computer. And he has been doing it for years.---Steve Yohe

And a top 100 is a lot different than a top 10. Most of the smart people will have nothing to do with it.

Do a top 100 for the last 25 years. That might have a chance. Fans want to talk about wrestling they've seen or can watch.--Yohe

Thanks Lance Goodthrust. I would propose to make a poll, and I want to divide the wrestlers in two categories: the pre 90s years, and the group of post 80s.
Then I would divide them in mini groups of 4 wrestlers and post a series of polls.
What do you think about it?

Past a point, rating workers is too subjective. It gets into apples vs oranges when you start debating guys who worked shoot-style vs luchadores. That said, Volk Han definitely should make a top 100 list.
