I decided to look at WCW Worldwide circa 2000, which throughout the year has some interesting matches. This is part one of the series. It's oddly fun to watch forgotten matches, and they're actually...entertaining.. for the most part.

The last episode of WCW Worldwide aired in syndication the weekend of Wrestlemania X-7 and was the final WCW TV program (WCW Classics continued to air on Turner South for a while following the WWF buyout).

Glad you guys are enjoying it. There will be several parts to the series. It's a lot of fun to watch these as it's a far better show than Nitro or Thunder without the huge names.

That last edition of World Wide Wrestling was strange. They knew it was the end. When Scott Hudson closed the program he even said "No more WCW means no more World Wide. We'll see you somewhere down the road." The show had some stuff on it that you'd expect from a promotion that was finished. For instance, they had a classic match each week as selected by Mike Tenay. To go out with a bang and to tie in with Dusty Rhodes being active in WCW at the very end, they showed the War Games match from Fall Brawl '94 with Dusty, Dustin, and the Nasty Boys against Colonel Parker, Bunkhouse Buck, Terry Funk, and Arn Anderson. Yet there was also a plug for WCW Magazine as well as a completely pointless segment that partly served to hype a Disco Inferno vs. Alex Wright feud that was just getting off the ground and would go no further. There was also a more forgivable contractually obligated segment with Buff Bagwell plugging the WCW branded MasterCard that was still odd to see. There were also last day of school type segments such as some good natured goofing on Larry Zbyszko who was gone from the company by then, time lapse shots of the set being constructed and dismantled, and full length credits for the crew all with goofy pro wrestler type nicknames.

Part four has been updated. This features a match between Christopher Daniels and Chris Candido that should have gotten Daniels a contract.

Also, Juventud Guerrera, Shane Douglas, Chris Harris, Crowbar and Mike Sanders appear.

At one point, Daniels did have a short-term contract with WCW.

He badly injured himself during a match and was released shortly thereafter.

I just saw a thread about WCW contracts and he apparently had a contract, just wasn't ever used on television. Still, baffling.
