Cue cliche-riddled and disrespectful "he was never booked" jokes in 3...2...1...

Also let's get the cheesy "he's been booked...into heaven" line out of the way.

Seriously though, RIP Mr. Stamp.

I knew him from the Apter mags and think he appeared as a jobber at an AWA taping from Vegas.
But he was one of the standout performers in "Beyond the Mat" and I'm sure both of the legendary Funk boys have heavy hearts today at the passing of their friend and neighbor.
RIP to a fine hand in his day..Dennis Stamp.

He was a great amature wrestler here in Texas. He was at the opening event of the only intercolegiate wrestling program here in the state. He was a good friend of our head coach.
He was a good guy by all accounts.
RIP Dennis

I remember him from Florida early in his career. He wasn't like an obvious star or anything, but you wouldn't have picked him as 'most likely to become a joke' either. RIP

So long from the Sunshine State.

Appears he got a decent push during his Florida run.

I only saw him in real time doing jobs at Showboat tapings for the AWA. He was a good worker then. I had no idea that he had had a decent career in the 70's.

RIP Dennis,

He had a very good run in Vancouver during the early -mid 70's and was decent in the enhancement role later in the AWA and WWF.

RIP. I joked about Dennis way too much. All due respect he was a good worker.

I thought he was a good hand. Like others have said, ashamed he's become a punchline.

I couldn't find a newspaper obituary in the quick search I did, but there's two reputable cites.

He wasn't a joke. He just had more charisma than about 80percent of the people in "Beyond the Mat".

From the film, he seemed a nice man. Condolonences to his family.

Grew up in San Antonio and became a wrestling fan in the 70's/80's there. Dennis Stamp wrestled as a kinda mid card bad guy at the time. Would make apperances on TV against the local preliminary wrestlers and get the win, but often come up on the short end of the stick at Hemisfair Arena shows against Wahoo or Scott Casey. IIRC his finishing move on TV was a double arm suplex. (Back in 1981 that was kinda devastating).

He was a bit more than just the 'guy from Beyond The Mat'.
