I found the most interesting part of Bruno and Harley to be the revelation that Ali/Inoki was supposed to be Bruno/Ali.
I struggle to wrap my head around that match, even as a "work", however the Northwest box office would have been killer IMO.
Freddie Blassie in Ali's corner would have been even more fitting.

I agree.

"Ax hated the mask gimmick that was given to Demolition in the Fall of 1990. He felt it just helped to kill off the Demolition’s heat. Adding Crush hurt more than it helped as well."

"The agents had a lot of pull with Vince. Hart puts over Tony Garea and Rene Goulet as excellent in that role. George Steele was an *hole – Steele went from a cocaine-snorting worker to a stooge in a matter of months.

Randy Savage and Owen Hart stole Steele’s briefcase full of his medical supplies, plane tickets, his passport etc and threw it off a bridge to get back at “The Animal” for his tattle-tale behavior."

No idea if Magnum was actually promised the world title but I think it is very possible he was, and in my opinion he should have been. He was the most popular babyface in the company, except for maybe the RnR Express. I think putting the strap on him, even for a short run, makes more sense than Dusty's short run in 86 or Ronnie Garvin's run in 87.

My thinking here is he says that the NWA promoters agreed to it or something to that effect. Well how many NWA promoters were there really at this point? Kansas City? Portland? Remnants of Florida? If not yet the NWA, JCP was on the way to becoming the NWA. NWA meetings stopped happening in when, '83? '84 maybe?

In Magnum's defense, he wouldn't be the first wrestler that a promoter lead on or lied to. And I agree with Kid Canada, Flair vs Dusty had been done and re-done. Magnum was the next logical choice the fans wanted to see.

In an interview for the WWE Starrcade documentary and re-aired on the Rise and Fall of WCW, Magnum said he met with Crockett and Dusty in New York to discuss plans for the world title. WWE made it appear like he was going to get it at Starrcade '86, but IIRC Magnum said they gave him no timetable and it's been said on here by various sources that the original plan for Starrcade was Magnum vs. Nikita and Flair vs. Ronnie Garvin before they switched things around due to his car wreck. But it's pretty much been confirmed that Magnum was going to get the belt at some point.

There was still technically an NWA board, but I don't know if they were even voting on a champion or having meetings anymore by that time. Ole said in his shoot with RF that the last NWA meeting he could recall was in 1984.

As for who was still in the NWA at that point besides Crockett in 1986-87, there was Gary Juster, the Murnicks, Kansas City (until November '87), Florida (until Crockett closed it), Portland, Continental (until early '87 I think), Steve Rickard in New Zealand, and Larry O'Day in Australia. Maybes: All Japan (were still mentioning the NWA in title matches through 1990; Flair also toured there in '87 and Steamboat in '89), Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Hawaii.

Take it with a grain of salt since it is Hulk, but he (and I vaguely remember some others) basically said he was never going back to WWF but he played Bischoff and the suits at Turner into giving him a huge raise thinking he might.

David Schultz covers kicking the a lot of people's butts - fans, wrestlers and criminals alike! Plus Jerry Lawler being a wimp, slapping 20/20's John Stossel, Hogan and Heenan being stooges, being blackballed from wrestling and much much more! Several promos are also linked that wouldn't even come close to making TV in this day and age.
