I do not think that this belongs on the Wrestling section so I posted it here, to me Connery is the best bond. And I like Diamonds are Forever and dr no

Far tougher question than it looks.

Dr. No and From Russia With Love are probably the "purest" Bonds.

Mind you George Lazenby in On Her Majesty's Secret Service brought some much needed ruthlessness to the part in the first (short lived) post-Connery era. Given where You Only Live Twice went and where Diamonds Are Forever would go, it was nice having "James F'n Bond" around for a while. And the premise of the plot was at least a bit more believable than what would often come later....

Timothy Dalton did a very nice run in the otherwise insipid Licence To Kill, getting the fury James would have had over Felix's torture and his wife's death (yes, let's re-play the aboslute worst night in James' life with his best friend -- no no, I assure you, there won't be a problem containing him.....YEAH RIGHT!).

For pure fun, I think I enjoy Thunderball most (seen it upwards of two dozen times or more), and the first Pierce Brosnan, Goldeneye was certainly enjoyable too. But I don't gotta watch them as bad as I do the first two Connerys.

Best movie? From Russia With Love. Probably. Maybe. Ask me again tomorrow.

....just don't make me watch A View to a Kill again........

I own them all and HATE "a view to a kill". I do love the first two a lot, and I don't know I just found DAF pretty entertaining, I thought that YOLT was good until that stupid "ninja" thing I mean this is JAMES BOND, he doesn't become one of the ninjas. I also liked thunderball and Goldfiner. For Roger Moore films, I liked "For Your Eyes Only" which was to me, the most serious of them. I thought that OHMSS was REALLY good, but a little long if anything. And I think that Goerge Lazenby gets a bad rep by a lot of the fans. Timothy Dalton was by far the most ruthless bond, to me anyway, and I enjoyed "The Living Daylights" Pierce Brosnan's "Goldeneye" is my favorite from him. Overall I think my favorte is " Dr. NO " I love the tropical area he is in, although he wasn't "set" in the part yet by the first one, I think it had one of the coolest stories. BTW......Travlr, your forgetting which is probably the most popular Bond film of all time........"Goldfinger"! Although I put it at his third or fourth best. I would put Dr. No, FRWL, and Thunderball, ahead of it.

My least favorite ones are..... A View To A Kill, Die Another Day, and Never Say Never Again (I know I know its not an "official" bond but its still not very good) I like all of these some, but not as much as I like the others.

Oh, I didn't forget Goldfinger, I just have a slight annoyance with it as this is the movie where the gadgetry start to become major parts of the story. So it gets taken down a notch for that. I'm at least as big a fan of the books, so figure that in to my calculations.

Oh, and keep in mind that at the time of You Only Live Twice, the entire Kung-Fu and Ninja craze was still five or six years away. Bond's training with them is an important part of both the book and movie.

Still, Goldfinger has some of the best lines in the whole series:

"My dear girl, there are some things that just aren't done, such as drinking Dom Perignon '53 above the temperature of 38 degrees Fahrenheit. That's just as bad as listening to the Beatles without earmuffs!"

"My name is ***** Galore."
Bond: "I must be dreaming."

....and of course, the absolute best James Bond line:

"Do you expect me to talk?"
"No, Mr. Bond. I expect you to die."

LOL, they did some risky things back then. I have FRWL book and I think it is the best book out of all of them. I still just do not like the idea of making bond a ninja, it just doesn't seem right to me. I also wish that the Bentley car that bond had in FRWL would get more air time. It had a car-phone which was years ahead of its time, and he had a pager, and it seemed the ultimate car in class. But it only gets like 2 seconds of air time

He starred in Ang Lee's Incredible hulk.

Daniel Craig is a darker version, Casino Royale is far and away is the best in 15 yrs. IMO

I think From Russa With Love is the best. The 12 minute set up and fight on the train is one of the best moments in film history. With out that scene I think the second Casino Royale is the best.

At this point if they change Bonds it will kill any momentum they've gained in the last two films.--Yohe

I have really grown to love Skyfall. I still put From Russia w Love and Golfinger ahead of it. Craig turned into a good Bond but I thought Spectre was a misstep.

so what do you guys think of rumors that Idris Elba replaces Daniel Craig as Bond after the next movie. Craig is only contracted for one more...

Elba could be the first BLACK James Bond! I like it

I would not mind it. I like Elba. Good actor, in good shape, can be classy and dangerous. I still would not mind seeing Michael Fassbender get it. Also wish Clive Owen would have gotten a run at it.
