The 4th of July holiday was traditionally one of the biggest weekends on the professional wrestling calendar and this week’s edition of This Week In Wrestling celebrates the holiday with features 19 newspaper clippings and arena programs, many with results. Included are clippings and programs from Houston, West Palm Beach, Dallas, and Ft. Worth, In addition to the clippings, there are news and notes from around the world.

Highlights include:

* The most watched professional wrestling match in the history of cable television.
* The NWA World champion and the WWE World champion in a title vs title match.
* Verne Gagne gets “Crushed” for the AWA World heavyweight championship.
* Ric Flair wins his first ever championship.
* The Von Erichs and Freebirds have the 1984 Match of the Year.
* Tragic auto accidents claim the lives of five wrestling personalities.
* A 22 man, two-ring Battle Royal.
* John Studd tries to collect a bounty on Dusty Rhodes.
* Dory Funk Jr. faces David Von Erich in a Texas Death Match.
* Killer Brooks and Professor Toru Tanaka battle in a dog collar chain match.
* The brutal Eddie Graham-Professor Boris Malenko feud continues.
