Ponte is "bridge", Schiacciato is "flat". Both words individually can have wrestling connotations, not sure what they mean when put together. A "bridge" in wrestling is certainly not "flat". Need a colloquial translation here, rather than a literal one.

Nice research, BTW.

The first think that come to my mind when I read "ponte schiacciato" is this:
 -

Because the word "ponte" in the gymnastic world in Italy is this:
 -

And "schiacciata" means something that is smash, press.

That is why I think to a German Suplex Pin.

And there you go, the colloquial translation! My brain is failing me at the moment, but there is a name for that pinning combination that is not German suplex (which I believe is a more modern term) It may even be called something like a back bridge press. Hopefully one of the veterans on the board will come in to clarify.

Grazie!

During the fascist regime it was usual that the results from fighter like Raicevich or Carnera was changed to say "ehy looks! Italy is number 1 everywhere". So it doesn't astonished me that the results aren't real in this period of time.
