Did anyone ever get the McShain record book up on google drive or some type of method I could look at it? I'd really like to take a gander.

I was lucky enough to see Danny McShain in-person from the second row of ringside seats at Madison Square Garden circa 1960.

He's one of those wrestlers who either worked (Jules Strongbow-style -- slow-and-boring) Los Angeles-style on filmed matches but was a tiger in shorter major-arena shows elsewhere -- or the Garden brought out the best in him.

The guy had the ferocious aura of a champion and worked all-out when I saw him at the Garden but comes across, on film, as half-asleep or tired and worn-out. He wasn't even in the main event at the Garden but, given his performance, certainly could have justified top-of-the-card status there.

Who knows? I don't.

I will definitely have my ballot to you this weekend Mr. Yohe. Since I came in late to the selections I've been checking everything I can out to be sure before I submit. I have all the selections I want, just not sure what order to put them in or rather not definitively yet.

Got two this AM & it surprised me because there has been very little action in the last few weeks. I have a number in my mind, I figured if it wasn't met I'd discontinue this. I'm way short. I have other wrestling projects to work on, so I'll be good with the decision. Who voted were the historians & my friends. Who haven't shown up are the Los Angeles people. Guess there busy voting for the Oscars?---Yohe

The voting period is over and I'm going to be posting the results. The number of voters I was looking for to not shut this down was 20, and it ended up at 21. 5 or 6 people kicked in the last two days & that helped. So thanks to them & all the voters, and anyone who care about this project. BUT....a lot of the people I respect...and used to vote...didn't. Some who did...seemed bothered by it.

So the is going to be the last ballot. It ends here.

I still think this system would work, if I had voters....but I don't.

I would keep going...if people bugged me to continue...but I'll need to feel like it's of value to someone....and I could be guarantied 30 voters...but that isn't going to happen.

The results:

Under the HOF rules, three names must be removed after each ballot. There was a tie at 12 points by three candidates, so I made a decision.

Names to be removed from the Singles Group. (voters = 9)
1--Chris Hero = 14 --- 4
2--Roy Heffernan = 13 --- 4 --- 1
3--Art Mahalik = 12 --- 3

----Nick Bockwinkel = 3 --- 1
15-Haystack Calhoun = 2 --- 1
----Ramon Torres = 2 --- 1
----Rey Mysterio Jr = 2 --- 1
----Richi Starr = 2 --- 1
19-Earl Maynard = 1 --- 1
----Antonino Rocca = 1 --- 1
----Psicosis = 1 --- 1
----Gene LeBell (The Hangman) = 1 --- 1

The rules are we need to remove two candiates from the non-worker group each ballot. There was a tie at 2nd place, so I made a decision. If more were voting in this section, we wouldn't have that problem.

Names to be removed from non-performer list (voters = 8)
1--Jack Smith = 6 --- 4 --- 2
2--Hardy Kuskamp = 3 --- 2 --- 1

----------------Luck runner ups------------------------------------------------
---Jack Daro = 3 --- 2 --- 1
4-Joe “Toots” Mondt = 2 --- 1 ---1
--Jesse Hernandez = 2 --- 1 --- 1
---Tony Stecher = 2 --- 1 --- 1
---Don McDonald = 2 --- 1 ---1
8-Vince McMcMahon Jr = 1 --- 1
---Billy Sandow = 1 --- 1

Under rules 2 teams must be removed. Once again I had to make decisions because the voters didn't like the section. It most likely not going to do another ballot, so it doesn't really matter. Just hope it's interesting.

Names to be removed from the Tag Team List. (voters = 9)
1--Gene Kiniski & John Tolos = 8 --- 4 ---2
2--Kurt & Karl Von Stroheim = 6 --- 2 --- 2

--------------Lucky runner ups---------------------------------------------
----The Preacher & Stan Holek = 6 --- 3
----El Hijo del Santo & Octagon = 6 --- 2 --- 2
5--The British Bulldogs = 5 --- 2 --- 1
6--Bearcat Wright & Mr Moto --- 4 --- 2
---John & Al Smith = 4 --- 2 --- 1
8--Dory & Terry Funk = 3 --- 3
----Pedro Morales & Luis Hernandez = 3 --- 1 --- 1
----The Destroyer & Hard Boiled Haggerty = 3 --- 2
11-Fred Blassie & Mr Moto = 2 --- 1
----The Kentuckians = 2 --- 1
----Jerry & Bob Christy = 2 --- 1

Thanks to everyone.

I can't believe Pedro Morales, 2-time WWA World Champion and 5 or 6 times WWA Tag-Team Champion, didn't make the HOF. And I can't even say "Wait'll next year!"

The problem IMO is that LA is a little seen territory, in terms of both real time syndication and surviving footage, past the early TV era.

Pedro wasn't my number one but I definitely had him in my top five I think. Kinda shocked Chavo who was I think a six time Americas Champion didn't make it. I had him as my number one.

And I just wanted to say it is a shame this will be discontinued. I understand the rationale behind it but I was very happy participating in this. Maybe the next Yohe community project I can participate as well.

I'm thinking hard about doing another ballot in Feb. 2018. So I'll probably be bothering the same people & hoping for more to join. JMK is gone, so someone will have to step up & replace him.

I'd like some opinions about the idea. It will be the first vote in the Donny Trump era.---Steve Yohe

I've always thought it would be interesting to do HOF like this for other major territories. Someone else would have to volunteer to do them for their own home territory.

But I would like to play around with making candidate list for places like NYC, St Louis, SF, Japan, the Northwest, Boston, Chicago, Minneapolis, etc. I could do a Ok job with those, but I could not do the South like Memphis, Florida, Atlanta, or even Texas. I know we have top guys who could do Australia & New Zealand. Some lucha guys might want to do Mexico.

I might make a post out of that if I had time to burn & then those interested could add idea & make changes.

I could see helping with those lists & voting....but counting & running the show is way too much work & time. I don't think anyone else would want that job either. But putting the list together interests me.--Yohe

G'day Steve,

I'd like to see the ballot continue. I enjoy engaging in your voting process.

I've asked the other members of the Aussie Posse to vote but most have commented that they just don't have the required knowledge of the Southern California (LA) territory to give it a fair go.

Perhaps that view is representative of the Wrestling Classics Message Board posters as a whole. Maybe the voters you already have are the maximum number of Wrestling Classics posters who followed Southern California pro wrestling history.

You may not have voters in great quantity but I believe that the quality of voters in terms of knowledge and interest in Southern California pro wrestling history can't be denied. [Smile]

Cheers champion!

Ed

G'day Steve,

I'd be interested in voting for HOF projects for all of the other major territories.

If (and I appreciate that it's a big IF) there was enough interest for an Australian HOF I'd volunteer to submit the lists, coordinate the voting, do the counting and undertake the overall running of the show.

Cheers!

Ed

I must admit, I'm one of those who possibly doesn't have the knowledge in SC, particularly before the 60s.
But if you did want to do it for other areas, I'd certainly like to participate, particularly the Australian one that Ed has offered to run.
